Short Cherubic Hymn in Fourth Mode

I was inspired and very moved by Mr. Asteris' rendition of the Cherubic Hymn in this video, and I wrote the attached Cherubic hymn.

This is very lovely - would enjoy it if you finished out the hymn with "That we may receive..." and "Invisibly escorted" so as to complete it, if you have the time and desire.

Thanks Ross. I will try to do that sometime soon. Strangely enough, the section "That we may receive" is somewhat difficult to set to music, and because of that I have tended to set it aside in these compositions. I am actually thinking of finishing 2 sets of Cherubic hymns, one somewhat longer (comparable to the ones by Phokaefs), and one somewhat shorter, to which the above piece belongs. After finishing all these, I was thinking to sit down and try to write the finishing sections ("That we may receive..." and "Invisibly escorted") all at once.

Basically, I have been spending a lot of the time with the primary text of the Cherubic hymn, and it is becoming easier to set to music. I haven't spent similar amounts of time with the ending sections, so they are still proving somewhat difficult to write.

I'll see what I can do!

Thanks Gabriel - what about an ascent to Di from Ni? I think Papa Ephraim does that in his adaptation of the Agia Cherubic hymn from Stanitsas if I'm remembering correctly. Practically speaking I see utility in the approach of shorter and longer versions which are useful given the number of celebrants for example.
